Qamea Resort & Spa ~ Fiji Islands
Your honeymoon location should not only include private beaches for those iconic “movie star moments” but also a wide range of activities on which to build memories! Remarkable Honeymoons has found that perfect spot; Qamea Resort & Spa. Qamea, one of Fiji’s northern islands, is home to the breathtakingly beautiful Qamea Resort & Spa. The resort is a luxury 4.5 star all adult resort (no children under 15 allowed) situated on 100 acres of lush tropical landscaped gardens, bush-land and jagged volcanic South Pacific mountains that soar behind the property. The entire resort fronts a private white sand beach over a kilometer in length known as the most spectacular in Fiji’s northern island group. It has the intimate atmosphere of a Fijian village with only 17 Bures.
Qamea and her neighboring islands offer a tropical paradise of adventure and beauty. The activities coordinator at Qamea Resort & Spa is forever thinking of new and special seasonal activities, tailored to the interests of their guests. Just a few of these unique activities are; Lairo crab hunts, staff and guest volleyball, incredible snorkeling, Hobie cat sailing, windsurfing, sea kayaking, sea canoeing, hiking, croquet, visiting one of the local villages, a resort gym, guided jungle hikes and bird watching, fishing, stand up paddle surfing, surfing, scuba diving and lots more! At Qamea Resort & Spa your non-motorized activities are complimentary! Tours on the island of Qamea and the neighboring island of Taveuni are also very popular and include: Bouma Waterfalls, Lavena Nature Walk, Circle Qamea Island Tour, Ringold Islands Day Tour (Seasonal) and the Pearl Farm Tour (a perfect place for that post-wedding gift!).
Highlighting a few of these activities……
Stand Up Paddle Surfing
The owners have recently imported from Hawaii two custom built 11 foot high quality stand up paddle surfing boards from Hawaii with low weight adjustable weight paddles. Enjoy a fantastic workout while enjoying the beauty of this pristine lagoon with the backdrop of the resort and rugged mountains of Qamea.
Meke & Kava
Usually on Wednesday evenings before dinner, a group of young Fijian warriors from Naviivi Village will conduct a very traditional formal Kava Ceremony. This ceremony will provide you with a unique and extremely authentic insight into the means by which Fijians continue to this day to show respect and to welcome guests into their villages and homes. Throughout the ceremony your evening dinner host will quietly narrate so you can fully understand and appreciate the significance behind each act in the ceremony.
The local villages regularly visit Qamea for a special treat . . . Meke, which is a performance of ancient Fijian song and dance. Because up until recently there was not a written Fijian language, Meke was the traditional way of passing history and legends from one generation to another through song and dance. Typical meke songs and dance depict the journey of the Fijian ancestors across the ocean in search of a homeland, as well as significant battles, joys and tears. Some of the meke depicts ancestral witchcraft and legends of ghosts. For many of our guests this will be the highlight of the trip.
Surfing
Surfing is a new and exciting activity offered at Qamea. Tropicsurf operates the surfing from 1 November through to April, and there are beautiful, un-crowded surf breaks about 10-15 minutes by boat from the resort. Tropicsurf has a resident surf guide at Qamea for the surf season.
Dive Qamea
Come experience some of the world’s premier dive sites, located just off the white sand shores of Qamea Resort & Spa, and nearby Tavenui Island. Qamea’s fully PADI accredited 5 Star dive operation features such world-class dive sites as the Purple Wall, Qamea Freeway and more. Most of their dive sites are within ten minutes of the resort, so you will not waste valuable holiday time on a dive boat. Qamea also offers charter dives to the White Wall and Rainbow Reef in the Somosomo Straights and to our favorite dive at the Yellow Wall.
Both the owners of Qamea are avid divers and can be found underwater most days when they are on the resort. They continue to invest heavily in Qamea’s dive operation, and have recently added a 9 meter (30 ft) purpose built dive boat to compliment the smaller dive boats, all new dive computers, new BCDs, and Nitrox.
