Princess Cruises will name its newest ship the Royal Princess. This ship will have a dramatic over-water, glass-floored walkway extending from one side of an upper deck with views of the ocean far below. The glass-floored walkway, named SeaWalk, will be located on the port side of Deck 16, 128 feet up and will extend more than 28 feet beyond the edge of the ship.
The new SeaView bar will be cantilevered over the starboard side. The ship will carry 3,600 passengers (140,000 tons for those of you cruise enthusiasts) and 80% of the staterooms will have balconies. There will be a new adults-only pool with 7 cabanas that appear to be floating in the water, and the Sanctuary area will be expanded as well. Two additional pools will flank a tropical island that will offer pool seating by day, and an outdoor dance club at night, complete with a water and light show. The Movies Under the Stars screen will nearly double in size. The ship will enter service in the spring of 2013, followed by a sister ship in 2014. Princess Cruises describes the ship’s design as being an evolution of the line’s classic style of ships, with new features and expanded passenger space. Royal Princess will feature 260,000 square feet of inside public space featuring multiple dining and entertainment venues, as well as other special features and amenities which will be revealed over the coming months.
