Unlike many destinations, Tahiti doesn’t have four distinct seasons. Instead, it has two primary seasons:

Dry Season (May through October)

This is considered the most comfortable time to visit.

Average daytime temperatures range from the upper 70s to low 80s°F (approximately 26–29°C), humidity is lower, and rainfall is less frequent. The lagoons are stunning shades of blue, making this the ideal season for swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, sunset cruises, and simply enjoying life in an overwater bungalow.

It’s also the busiest time of year, especially in Bora Bora and Moorea.

Wet Season (November through April)

The wet season brings warmer temperatures, higher humidity, and more frequent tropical showers. Rain rarely falls all day, however. It’s common to experience sunshine followed by a brief afternoon shower before the skies clear once again.

This time of year can offer excellent value, particularly for travelers with flexible schedules who don’t mind occasional rain in exchange for lower prices.

January is one of the quietest months for tourism. If your priority is finding good pricing and you don’t mind brief rain showers, it can be a wonderful time to visit.

July

One of the most popular months.

Expect gorgeous weather along with higher demand for resorts, especially luxury properties in Bora Bora.

Best for: Families and honeymooners.

August

August combines spectacular weather with one unforgettable experience—humpback whale season.

Whales migrate through French Polynesian waters from roughly July through October, making this one of the most memorable times to visit.

Best for: Whale watching and snorkeling.

September

Many experienced travelers consider September one of the very best months.

The weather remains excellent while crowds begin to thin slightly after the summer peak.
