As most of you know, passports are required for just about every destination outside of the U.S.A. What you may not know: Passports must have between 3 and 6 months validity, meaning that they must not expire for at least 3 to 6 months from the last date of your trip. Therefore if you are going on a Fiji Honeymoon and returning on January 31, your passport must be valid through the end of July. If it expires prior to that time you must renew prior to traveling. For Mexico it is 3 months.
In addition, some countries will not allow entry for those with a DUI on their record, specifically Canada. There are ways of getting around this rule but they are very difficult and time consuming. This can be the case even if you are transiting Canada for another country. Know the rules before you go!
Lastly, we recommend to all of our clients that you send us a copy of the main passport page at the time of booking or as soon as you have it. This way we can not only check on the validity dates for you but we can also help in case your passport is lost or stolen while traveling. Believe us it does happen!
