It is incredible how in just 12 months, the world took a rapid turn from what life used to be as far as feeling safe. The idea of meeting friends for drinks at your favorite restaurant or standing in line at the grocery store now brings a feeling of worry. Now more than ever, humans look at our health in such a different fashion. When deciding on things like travel, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it safe to travel? Twelve months ago, this was viewed in a vastly different light. When traveling to certain places, safety is always a factor. Today, the feeling of safety is directly related to COVID-19.
As the weather starts to warm and the COVID vaccine is widely administered throughout the states, we see a turn in the tides. According to the latest numbers from the CDC, more than 58 million Americans have been fully vaccinated. Things are changing, and people are feeling more comfortable. The public is feeling fatigued from the pandemic. Restlessness is starting to take over, and people want normalcy. This age of travel is undoubtedly different, but in planning with your travel agent, you finally begin to plan your trip of a lifetime!
The CDC indicates that people are not fully vaccinated until two weeks after receiving either the first dose of Johnson & Johnson, or the second dose of Moderna and Pfizer. Some destinations are still requiring a negative COVID-19 test before arrival. To stay ahead of the game and ensure you are fully prepared, check the CDC website for the most up-to-date COVID-19 information and travel requirements. Also, be sure to talk to your travel agent.
CDC is providing the following guidance related to international travel:
- Fully vaccinated people can travel internationally without getting a COVID-19 test before travel unless it is required by the international destination.
- Fully vaccinated people do not need to self-quarantine after returning to the United States unless required by a state or local jurisdiction. Check out your state’s Before You Go page to find out more about your destination.
- Fully vaccinated people must still have a negative COVID-19 test result before they board a flight to the United States and get a COVID-19 test 3 to 5 days after returning from international travel.
- Fully vaccinated people should continue to take COVID-19 precautions while traveling internationally.
We understand life as we know it is different, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Remain vigilant and planning! Continue to take precautions. There is still a wonderful world of exploration and beauty out there. Being safe and having fun is what we want for all of us.
