Tokoriki Island Resort

Tokoriki Island Resort is an adults-only boutique resort on Tokoriki Island, in the Mamanuca Islands off the west coast of Fiji. It is about 15 minutes by helicopter from Nadi International Airport, or about an hour by speedboat or catamaran from Port Denarau.

The resort has 36 freestanding bures and villas along the beachfront and takes no more than 72 guests, all aged 16 and over. The mood is relaxed and romantic, and the quiet, child-free setting suits a honeymoon very well.

All 36 bures and villas are freestanding and set in tropical gardens along the beach, and every one has an outdoor shower. There are four categories: 8 Beachfront Bures, 18 Beachfront Pool Bures, 7 Beachfront Pool Villas and 3 Pool Villas. The Pool Villas have the same private infinity-edge pool as the Beachfront Pool Villas, and sit beside the beach rather than directly on it. For a honeymoon, we recommend:

•  Beachfront Pool Villa – The largest option, with a private infinity-edge pool, a large deck and a cabana with a double daybed, right on the beachfront.

•  Beachfront Pool Bure – A beachfront bure with its own personal pool set into the deck.

•  Beachfront Bure – The classic Tokoriki bure, steps from the sand, for couples who do not need a private pool.

Dining at Tokoriki Island Resort is oceanfront and à la carte, with menus that blend South Pacific and Asian influences.

Oishii Teppanyaki is the resort’s chef’s table, set in the gardens beside lily ponds. It seats only four couples at a time, so it is worth booking early. The Cocktail Bar holds a nightly happy hour, with canapés served in the early evening.

For a special honeymoon moment, we can arrange a private oceanfront dinner for two, a champagne breakfast in bed, or a floating breakfast served in your own pool.

The resort has two pools, a 25-meter freshwater infinity-edge pool and a saltwater pool, as well as a gym with an outdoor TRX platform, a tennis court, table tennis, a hiking track and a library. Kayaks, Hobie Cats and stand-up paddleboards are free to use, and there are complimentary guided snorkeling trips every day.

The weekly program includes basket weaving, a traditional lovo, kava ceremonies and a live band each night. The resort’s PADI 5 Star dive center runs dives with a strict no-touch policy and visits the Tokoriki Giant Clam Regeneration Project. We can also arrange a local village visit, a private island beach picnic with champagne, or a day trip to Monuriki Island, where the movie Cast Away was filmed.

Spa

The spa has four couples’ treatment bures, each with water falling over a freestanding volcanic rock wall. The menu includes aromatic and bamboo massages, facials and body rituals such as the Royal Milk & Honey Ritual. Couples can book the Couples Luxury Pamper or the three-hour Luxury Couples Spa Retreat.

Weddings

Tokoriki Island Resort offers three packages: Renewal of Vows, Elopement and Tropical Wedding. Ceremonies are held on the beach, on the jetty, on the deck of your bure or villa, or in the resort’s handcrafted chapel with stained glass windows.

The Tropical Wedding can be tailored and includes a celebrant, the marriage license, flowers, a Fijian warrior escort, serenaders, a cake, a champagne toast and an oceanfront dinner.

Children

Tokoriki Island Resort is adults-only. The minimum age for guests is 16.

Rates at Tokoriki Island Resort are for the room only, for two guests. They include:

•  Daily afternoon tea – Served to all guests.

•  Cocktail tasting and canapés – Three evenings a week.

•  Activities – Daily snorkeling trips, kayaks, Hobie Cats, paddleboards, tennis, the gym and both pools.

•  Entertainment – A live band nightly and kava ceremonies twice a week.

•  Wi-Fi – In the main lounge and lobby.

Meals are not included in the room rate. The resort sells two meal plans: Room + à la carte breakfast, which comes with free-flow French sparkling wine, and Room + all meals, which includes an evening at the teppanyaki chef’s table, subject to availability. Other drinks, transfers to the island, scuba diving, spa treatments and excursions are charged separately.
