Vomo Island Resort
- Mamanuca Islands
Vomo Island Resort is the only resort on Vomo, a 255-acre private island that sits between the Mamanuca and Yasawa island groups. The island has about three miles of beaches, a mountainous interior with walking trails up Mount Vomo, and a tiny sister island, Vomo Lailai, just offshore. Guests arrive by helicopter from Nadi or Denarau in about 15 minutes, or by speedboat from Vuda Point Marina in about 35 minutes.
With 34 resort villas and a small collection of private residences, Vomo welcomes honeymooners, families and multi-generational groups alike. Couples who want quiet time will find it at The Rocks, the adults-only area at the western tip of the island reserved for guests aged 16 and over.
Vomo’s villas are set along the beachfront and on the lower slopes of Mount Vomo. All are air-conditioned with ceiling fans, a large bathroom, a coffee machine and complimentary Wi-Fi. Families can choose the Beachfront Family Retreats or the Two-Bedroom Family Villas, which have a private pool. Larger groups can book one of the multi-bedroom private residences, each with its own pool. For a honeymoon, we recommend:
• Beachfront Haven – A free-standing villa on the beachfront with no adjoining neighbor, a free-standing bathtub and a deck with two sun loungers.
• Beachfront Villa – Only steps from the sand, with the same interior and a deck with a dining table for two.
• Hillside Villa – Set high above the sea among tropical gardens, private and quiet, with wide ocean views.
Vomo has two restaurants. Vuda Bar and Restaurant is the main dining room, where dinner is served and families eat together. The Rocks Bar & Restaurant, at the western tip of the island, serves a poolside lunch and is the place to watch the sunset with a cocktail, looking across the water to Vomo Lailai. The Rocks is an adults-only space for guests aged 16 and over.
Gluten-free and vegan menus are available. For a special honeymoon moment, we recommend:
• Private island picnic – A picnic for two on Vomo Lailai, with the little island to yourselves.
• Private beach dinner – A table for two set on the sand.
The beaches are sheltered by an outer reef, and snorkeling is good straight from the sand. The Ocean Play center lends out stand-up paddleboards, single and double kayaks, Hobie Cats, windsurfers and snorkeling gear, and a guided snorkel safari goes out every day. On land there is a 9-hole par-3 golf course, a tennis court, an air-conditioned gym with fitness classes, volleyball and hiking trails to the top of Mount Vomo.
PADI scuba diving, sport fishing, island hopping, village visits by speedboat and surf trips can all be arranged at extra cost.
Spa
Kui Spa is set in the island’s gardens and uses Sodashi, a natural Australian skincare range, and Nama Fiji, a local line made from sea grapes. Therapists offer massages and gentler rituals, and a massage can also be given in your villa.
Weddings
Vomo hosts weddings, commitment ceremonies and vow renewals. Ceremonies can be held on the beach, in the island chapel or at a private spot such as a secluded beach or a hilltop viewpoint. The resort’s coordinator helps with the marriage license and legal paperwork, the celebrant, flowers and music, and can add a Fijian choir, a warrior escort or a kava ceremony.
Weddings are for guests staying on the island, and a minimum stay applies. The whole island can also be hired for a larger celebration.
Children
Children of all ages are welcome year-round. The Kids’ Village cares for children aged 3 to 12 every day at no charge, and each family receives a Baby Butler for up to four hours a day. Honeymooners should know this is a family resort, with The Rocks set aside for adults.
Vomo’s nightly rate includes:
• Meals – Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the resort restaurants.
• Non-alcoholic drinks – Including the soft drinks and mixers in your villa minibar.
• Activities – Non-motorized water sports, the daily snorkel safari, golf, tennis, the gym and fitness classes, cultural demonstrations and cooking classes.
• Kids’ Village and Baby Butler – As described above.
• Wi-Fi and daily laundry service.
Alcoholic drinks are charged separately, apart from the weekly beach cocktail event held before the Meke cultural show. Helicopter and speedboat transfers, spa treatments, scuba diving, fishing, private picnics and off-island excursions also cost extra.
