Taveuni Island Resort

Taveuni Island Resort & Spa is a small, family-owned boutique resort at Matei, on the north end of Taveuni, Fiji’s lush garden island. It looks out over the Somosomo Strait and Rainbow Reef, one of the best-known soft coral reefs in the world. To get there, you take a domestic flight from Nadi or Suva to Matei Airport, and the resort collects you from there.

With only 12 private villas, the resort is quiet and personal. It suits honeymooners and couples who want ocean views, farm-to-table food and easy access to diving, snorkeling and the rainforest, without the bustle of a large resort.

The resort has 12 private villas, all looking across the Somosomo Strait toward Rainbow Reef. They are offered as Oceanview and Oceanfront Villas, Garden Villas and one Family Villa. The Oceanview and Oceanfront Villas sleep up to three guests, the Garden Villas are for two adults, and the Family Villa takes four to six guests. For a honeymoon, we recommend:

•  Oceanfront Villa – Uninterrupted views across the Somosomo Strait, with room for up to three guests.

•  Oceanview Villa – A private villa with a wide outlook over the strait and Rainbow Reef.

•  Garden Villa – A villa for two adults.

The resort has one restaurant, serving à la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cooking is farm-to-table with authentic Fijian influences. The resort’s own organic farm supplies fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices to the kitchen every day, alongside locally raised meats and line-caught seafood. Special dietary needs can be met with advance notice.

In the evening there is a happy hour with craft cocktails made with fresh fruit syrups and juices from the farm, and alcohol-free versions are available too. For a romantic night, the team can arrange a cliffside dinner, a private meal under the stars, a table in the private sunset pavilion or dinner served in your villa.

The resort has a pool and a beach with direct access to the water. Kayaks, masks and snorkels are free to use. Rainbow Reef is the main attraction, and guided snorkeling trips and PADI diving are run with local dive partners. We can also arrange boat tours, hiking and cultural tours around Taveuni. Tours are charged separately, depend on the weather and are best booked in advance.

Spa

The resort spa is reserved for in-house guests. It offers traditional Fijian treatments using natural ingredients, as well as wellness sessions tailored to you. Couples can book a private session overlooking the ocean.

Weddings

Taveuni Island Resort & Spa can be booked for weddings, elopements and private celebrations. With so few villas, a ceremony here is naturally small and personal. Ask us and we will check details and availability with the resort.

Children

The resort is best suited to adults and to guests aged 17 and over, and it is not designed for young children. There is no kids’ club, and the pool and beach are not fenced. Infants are welcome with parental supervision, a nanny can be arranged on request, and there is one Family Villa.

Rates at Taveuni Island Resort & Spa cover accommodation only. Your stay also includes:
