Lomani Island Resort & Spa

Lomani Island Resort & Spa is a small adults-only resort on Malolo Lailai Island in the Mamanuca Islands, about 12 miles west of Fiji’s main island. Most guests arrive on the Malolo Cat ferry, which takes around 50 minutes from Denarau Marina. Helicopter, seaplane and private water taxi transfers are also available.

With just 30 rooms set along a white-sand beach and a calm lagoon, Lomani is quiet and personal. The resort is family-owned, and its easygoing, child-free atmosphere makes it a good fit for honeymooners who want a classic Fiji beach stay without a large-resort feel.

Lomani’s 30 bures and suites are finished in a relaxed Fijian style, with exposed wooden beams and views of the bay. There are three categories. For a honeymoon, we recommend:

•  Beachfront Pool Bure – A few steps from the beach, with a private plunge pool, sundeck, daybed, outdoor shower and private garden.

•  Beachfront Bure – On the edge of the white-sand beach, with an outdoor shower and a sundeck with loungers.

•  Deluxe Suite – A separate bedroom and lounge, with a private patio or balcony, a daybed and views over Malolo Lailai Bay.

Flame Tree Restaurant is Lomani’s restaurant, overlooking the pool and Malolo Lailai Bay. It serves Pacific Rim cuisine built around local seafood, fruit and vegetables, with dishes such as kokoda, rib eye steak and seafood spaghetti. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals can be prepared on request.

Lomani Bar is the place for a piña colada or mojito, with Fijian rums and beers, Australian and New Zealand wines and French Champagne on the list.

For a special honeymoon moment, we recommend:

•  Dinner on the beach – A private three-course dinner for two on the sand.

•  Sandbank Picnic – A picnic for two on a sandbank out in the lagoon.

•  Breakfast in Bed – Breakfast served in your bure or suite.

The resort has a swimming pool with a poolside bar, and the beach is right in front of the rooms. Complimentary activities include snorkeling over the coral gardens, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, Hobie Cat sailing, a dolphin safari, a hand-line fishing trip, a guided visit to Solevu village and Fijian cultural activities.

At an extra charge, we can arrange scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, private snorkeling trips, a sunset cruise, a charter on the resort’s boat, the Lomani Princess, and surf trips to the nearby breaks.

Spa

Lomani Spa has private treatment bures and an open-air Thalassotherapy Center with a sauna, an ice plunge and a plunge pool. Treatments use Nama seaweed and sea-mineral skincare and Pure Fiji oils. Couples can book the Veilomani Massage, a side-by-side massage for two.

Weddings

Lomani hosts weddings and vow renewals on the beach or in its tropical gardens, and the secluded Picnic Point Bure can be reserved at a surcharge. The Lomani Wedding package includes a celebrant, a decorated floral arch, the bouquet and buttonhole, a couples massage, a three-course dinner for two and a personal wedding coordinator. A Vow Renewal Celebration package is also offered.

The resort’s coordinators help with the marriage license. Wedding guests traveling with children can stay next door at Plantation Island Resort, Lomani’s family-friendly sister property.

Children

Lomani Island Resort & Spa is adults-only. Families with children are welcome at the sister property, Plantation Island Resort.

A full American and continental breakfast is included for every guest at Lomani Island Resort & Spa. Lunch and dinner are not included in the nightly rate. You can dine à la carte at Flame Tree Restaurant, or add a half-board or full-board meal plan to your stay.

The rate also includes the resort’s complimentary activities, such as snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, Hobie Cats, the dolphin safari, a hand-line fishing trip and the village tour, along with use of the Thalassotherapy Center.
